Vanessa Martin

As a Senior Attorney at Schromen Law, I work with individuals and families on estate planning, estate and trust administration, probate, and mediation matters.
I enjoy helping clients navigate complex legal issues with clarity and compassion, and I believe the legal process should feel approachable and supportive during times that are often emotional or uncertain.
One of the things I love most about estate planning is getting to know my clients and understanding their unique needs, relationships, and goals. Every family is different, and every estate plan should reflect that. I approach each plan as a customized process – almost like putting together the pieces of a puzzle – to create a plan that fits a family’s specific circumstances and priorities.
Before becoming an attorney, I worked in the nonprofit sector in fundraising, most recently serving as the Executive Director of EarthShare of Michigan. That experience strengthened my commitment to service and community impact, values that continue to guide my work as an attorney. I have also provided pro bono and low bono legal services for clients of Esperanza United. In addition to estate planning and probate, I have experience in family law and protective orders, which gives me valuable perspective when working with families navigating life transitions.
Outside of work, I am a proud mom to two amazing teenagers. My husband and I have been married for almost 22 years. I love spending time with my book club, baking, and doing my best to keep my houseplants alive. I also have a home on Madeline Island in Wisconsin where I love to spend time and hope to retire someday.
