Building Hope Beyond Borders
Our Commitment to Global Impact: A Home for Mr. Kang Vet’s Family in Cambodia
At Schromen Law, we believe that the true measure of our success is the positive impact we create — not only for our clients and local community, but also for families across the globe who deserve safety, dignity, and hope for the future.
In 2025, we proudly expanded our commitment to giving back by sponsoring the construction of a Khmer-style home in Cambodia through the Shinta Mani Foundation — an organization dedicated to rebuilding communities, providing clean water, schools, job training, and secure housing in one of Asia’s poorest nations, still recovering from war and genocide.
This effort is more than just a house — it is a lifeline for Kang Vet and Och Hum and their family.
Meet the Family: A Story of Resilience
Before receiving their new home, Kang Vet and his wife, Och Hum, endured unimaginable hardships in a worn-out wooden hut patched with rusted tin and old copper sheets. The fragile roof barely kept out the rain and scorching sun, and when storms came, their dirt floor turned into sticky mud.
Yet, the greatest hardship was not the leaking roof or the cold wind — it was the deep shame of not having a proper toilet for their family.
Despite endless days of hard labor on nearby farms and any odd jobs they could find, their income was never enough to meet even the most basic needs. The struggle was compounded by the constant care required for their disabled son, and the responsibility of raising their two granddaughters and a grandson.
Their grandchildren’s education has been their biggest hope for breaking free from the cycle of poverty. Every day, these children walked to class in worn clothes and battered shoes, determined to learn despite the fear of having to drop out for lack of school supplies.
Why a Safe Home Changes Everything
For families like Kang Vet’s, a safe, sturdy, rainproof home is a critical step toward security, dignity, and opportunity. With the help of the Shinta Mani Foundation — and the support of our clients, partners, and friends — Schromen Law is honored to provide this family with a place they can finally call safe shelter.
This home replaces hardship with hope. It allows the children to focus on their studies, keeps everyone healthy and dry, and restores a sense of pride and belonging.
How You Can Be Part of Our Mission
Giving back is part of who we are at Schromen Law. We dedicate a significant portion of our marketing and community budget to projects like this — whether it’s supporting local nonprofits or partnering with organizations like Shinta Mani Foundation abroad.
We look forward to sharing updates as Kang Vet’s family settles into their new home and builds a brighter future. We also plan to offer opportunities for our clients and community to get involved with the causes we support.
Together, we can build stronger communities — here at home and across the world.
