I am delighted to announce my arrival as an Estate Planning Attorney at Schromen Law, LLC.  After nearly four years of practicing law in Minnesota, I arrive at Schromen Law with a strong foundation in estate planning, and I feel I have finally found an ideal firm to advance my practice in a way that is client-focused and holistic.

My passion for estate planning originates in knowing and personally experiencing how difficult death can be and how it can impact every aspect of a person’s life after losing a loved one. Helping clients plan for these events in advance saves a lot of pain and stress when the moment eventually arrives. Death and grief are hard enough by themselves. Adding on family disputes, division of property and finances, potential court involvement, and everything else that the loss of a loved one entails only makes the process more difficult. By taking time to deliberately plan for these steps, my clients feel reassured about their future. Answering their questions, assuaging their concerns, and seeing how I can share my knowledge with them brings me great satisfaction and meaning in my work as an estate planning attorney.

It was sheer serendipity that brought Rachel and me together. Not long after I earned my J.D. from the University of Baltimore, my husband and I decided (in the midst of Covid!) to move from our home state of Maryland to Minnesota. After a few months at my first job in my new home state, I knew I wanted something more. Directionless and friendless, yet full of ambition, I began searching online for prominent lawyers in the Twin Cities. Rachel and her firm just so happened to be one of the first pages I came across. After reading about her passion for estate planning and experience in this field, I knew she would be a great contact to have going forward.  Without hesitation, I composed a concise introductory email to Rachel and sent it into the ether, with only my hopes to hold on to. I emailed multiple lawyers during this time, knowing the odds were against me to even get a reply. But as they say, fortune favors the bold, and sure enough, Rachel responded back to me, and our relationship commenced from there. She wasn’t able to offer me a job at the time, but she connected me with her professional network, and I began volunteering at Domestic Abuse Legal Advocacy Center (DALAC), a local non-profit that offers pro-bono services for women experiencing domestic abuse.

Since then, I have been practicing law in Minnesota, primarily in estate planning but also handling cases in other legal areas like probate, guardianship/conservatorship, and trust and estate administration. When I learned Schromen Law, LLC was expanding and was ultimately invited to join the practice, I was ecstatic. Not only could I work alongside Rachel with her clients and the local community, but my initial correspondence from many years ago had come full circle: a transformation from just-out-of-law-school, rookie lawyer to an outstanding, capable attorney. I can’t wait to see what’s in store for us at Schromen Law, LLC!

When I’m not drafting estate plans, you can find me exploring new coffee shops around the Twin Cities, traveling with my husband Grant, and exploring different parks and natural areas with my dog Desmond and my son Carson.

Good morning. I am not sure how I first started getting emails from Schromen Law but I have been intrigued since the very first one. I love this powerful and compassionate combination of women and what you stand for. I am a hospice and palliative care nurse. I spend my time having conversations with people about their goals of care, helping them write their advanced directives and completing POLST forms to ensure their wishes are honored at end of life. I love being in the space of really hearing what’s on peoples hearts and helping them accomplish their wishes. You appear to be a group that desires to do the very same thing in a much broader way. I am very impressed and just wanted to offer my kudos to you for all you do to care deeply for others. May you be richly blessed!!
