Schromen Law, LLC is excited to introduce legal intern, Joelle Beyer! Joelle is from a northern suburb of the Twin Cities, and graduated this spring from Winona State University with her Bachelor’s in Legal Studies, and minor in Women and Gender Studies.
I was originally connected with Joelle through a professor at Winona State. As an alumna of Winona State and the Women’s Studies program, I continue to mentor students and was thrilled to be introduced to a student who was seeking legal experience in St. Paul for the summer. Joelle expressed interest in working with Schromen Law due to the intimate practice size, and the ability to work within Domestic Abuse Legal Advocacy Center, PSC – the non-profit organization I co-founded in 2016. This summer, Joelle will be assisting with client intake, document drafting, legal research and office management. She will also be supporting Domestic Abuse Legal Advocacy Center, PSC by attending legal clinics, conducting legal research to support volunteer attorneys, and assisting with general office work.
While at Winona State, Joelle was able to serve as a Vice President on the executive board of her sorority, largely managing leases and other contracts for the MN historic landmark they were renting from. In addition, she was a member of the Winona State Paralegal Association and most recently had the opportunity to present on a panel at UW-Madison’s 4W Women’s Studies Summit discussing the Indian Child Welfare Act.
With applying to law school in Joelle’s horizon, she hopes to use this internship to widen her understanding and perspectives around different aspects of the law, gain hands-on experience working in a law office and interacting with clients, and to strengthen her legal research and writing skills.
When Joelle is not working on something in the office, you can find her enjoying great coffee, petting every dog that will accept her love (Schromen Law’s resident office pup, Mabel, is loving this fact!), or enjoying the beautiful weather outside with a nice book. Joelle will be around the office all summer, and hopes to see you at Schromen Law, LLC!
